  • I Need Projector Recs, Please

Well, crud, my Mitsu HD1000U projector bit the dust and now I have to find another projector.

My current projector is ceiling mounted and I will have to use the current placement. Unless I got super lucky, I could run into problems with that placement, obviously depending on the projector. With that in mind, I think I will buy a projector with lens-shift.

I could not care less about 3D and I am not wed to DLP, nor LCD. I would be fine with either one. I also want to hold the cost to $1,600 or less.

    Any recommendations would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Mike

Mike - A buddy of mine on here (351Carlo) has a REALLY nice JVC RS45 for sale if you can slightly increase the budget couple hundred. It does motorized lens shift, 3D, all the gizmos.

Thanks for the info, but at 33 lbs, it would exceed the limitations of my ceiling mount.

Coderguy did a nice writeup on AVS on the midrange PJ's and some good overall advice. Worth a read: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1391476/co...rojector-picks

I'd say based on his writeup, you could be happy with the Benq w1070 or Epson 3020 as someone else suggested. I also do a lot of my research on Projectorcentral.com FWIW.

With that in mind, I have an Epson 8700UB that I really like. It's got some crazy contrast levels and some very versatile lens shift range. Unfortunately it is discontinued, but the more modern epson models (like the 3020 mentioned above) are great as well.

Good stuff, guys! I am seeing lots of good stuff about Epson projectors. The 8350 is catching my eye. Nice PJ and nice price.

              Thanks
