We just got a contract on our house and are moving. The buyers want us to replace the speakers I have on the back wall. I am not giving them my WSM xls's, but I will replace them. I have a pair of Ref 0.5's and ELT525 monitors. Which pair would you keep?

I'd keep the ELT's definitely. Put the REF's up. They were a fine speaker but I thought the ELT's were much more refined. I had a set of them, my father in law has a set, they're fantastic speakers. Not very efficient but a very smooth overall sound. Plus I've heard this Ninja dude makes awesome upgrades for them :D

Thanks Skeeter. I was thinking the refs since I don't have any, but I hooked up the ELTs to a spare receiver and cranked 'em a little and they sounded much better than powering with the gizmo. Good to hear from you. It's nice to see familiar people over hear. I need to visit much more than I do.Hopefully some TCA products in the near future!

Skeeter, got the pair of 0.5's a little while ago. Man, I didn't know they were so small. I thought they would have been about the size of the ELT's. Hooked 'em up briefly and think I will keep the ELT's for sure. I like my bass and the 0.5's didn't have much. They sure are purty! I hate to have to screw in the bottom of these to mount them, not unless anyone has any suggestions on a different way.Hopefully some TCA products in the near future!

For mounting, what about strapping them down? Would that work or are they pretty angled?

The mounts I have are pretty angled, probably close to 35-40 degrees. I think I can only screw into the bottom of the speaker. Oh well, they won't be mine after they are up and plus it's on the bottom and if they ever take 'em down you won't see the holes! I guess I should pre-drill the holes and screw into the speaker gently.Hopefully some TCA products in the near future!

Too late! I pre-drilled small and put the screws in snug and made sure not to overtighten. I think they will hold at least until after we move. They seem to be very secure, I don't think there will be enough vibration up there to do anything from those speakers. I surely wouldn't hang the x-ls's that way!Hopefully some TCA products in the near future!
