  • Thoughts on surround input

    Hello,

Looking to purchase some surrounds for a 5.1 setup to match my SHO 10 LCR, being driven by a Denon 990 AVR with LFM1-Plus outlaw sub.

Considering the new M1's Craig is working on but have also been reading about some bi-pole speakers for surround.

The Axiom QS8's are a little too pricey...curious if anyone is familiar with the Emotiva XRS 4.1s? They seem to have a low effeciency compared to the SHO10s at 85db (6ohm). Didnt know if this would be an issue.

I just want to be sure if I listen at high volumes that I wont begin to hear any distortion coming from my surrounds. Volume is usually around -15 to -10db.

Those are similar to the AV123 RS300's. I would worry about them keeping up with the sho's in highly dynamic scenes at high volumes.

The difference between my old RS300's vs the sho10's I now use for surrounds is pretty dramatic. I hear way more detail in very busy scenes.

I'd also worry about blowing tweeters at high volume.
LCR: Gedlee Abbeys for LR and Nathan for Center Surround & rear 4 x Sho10's
    Subs: 4 x 18.2
    Electronics: Marantz SR7002, Acurus 200x3 (LCR), PS3, HTPC, CDP300, Mits HC1500, Elite Peregrine 2.35 156" Acousticpro4k

Check out the Mirage OMDR surrounds. They seem very capable, have good reviews and are cheaper than the QS8.

      Best......Carlo.
