  • Thinking about buying this just to Ebay

Guy near me is selling a huge package:

2 Dahlquist DQ10s (woofers need refoaming)
    Advent 300 preamp
    2 Haffler DH-200 amplifiers
    DBX 3bX range expander
    Dahlquist DQ-LP1 crossover
    Dahlquist sub

All for $600 :) The DBX 3BX and DQ-LP1 alone are worth more than $600 on Ebay. Woohoo! I figure if I part it all out I can clear $500 profit.

MP- Back in my college days, everything you have listed there was gear we sold at the store where I worked selling gear to pay for college.

    GREAT stuff! :applause:

Yeah, I have a bunch of other Dahlquist DQ12s and DQ8s that I really have been meaning to get sold ;) This will motivate me. Original owner, he's had it all for 25 years and it is in good shape. If I had the space I would keep it myself.

Hey Craig, does this give you deja vu? I have to go back for the subwoofer, that thing is a monster! Can't believe he had all the original boxes.

MP ... Sure does! That Advent receiver was a gem, too. This was also the time of the original NAD 3020 amp - which would embarass all the "100 watt" receivers when driving real speakers.

Then there was the Phase Linear Andromeda Super Speakers - 5 plus foot tall shallow speakers (maybe 20 inches wide and 4 inches deep) plus a separate subwoofer.

That was a great time for audio!

This makes me remember my good 'ole NAD 1020 pre amp feeding a Hafler XL600 amp. Sony ES CDP and Acoustic Research TSW 610 rounded out my system.

I miss that system to this day.

Awesome! I've never heard the DQ-10's before but would love to. There's a set on CL locally right now and I'm tempted to see if I can just go for a listen. Very cool find! I'm now currently looking up at picking up a set of Klipsch La Scalas. I love a lot of the vintage gear. So much great stuff! The DQ-20's were fantastic too and part of my very first 2-channel rig along with an Adcom preamp and amp and a marantz cd player. Ahh, good times :applause:

I've got some Klipsch Fortes in the garage that I need to refurb. Loved the sound on them. The 10s need so much space to shine, I just am not sure where I am putting them :(

I almost bought the Forte over the TSW 610, but the AR's were within my budget.

Nice! Lots of people like the Forte's. Are the 10's a dipole design and that's why they need so much space or are they one of those just plain picky speakers?

They look like this... So kinda weird :) And to image correctly they need to be spaced well.

Man Dahlquist sure did some funky stuff! My 20's were't even CLOSE to that complicated! Fantastic imaging and bass though, I loved those speakers :applause:
