Hello,
So I've come to solicit some advice on a blown midrange driver for a Rocket RS 850. It appears it is no longer possible to find an exact replacement driver, so I've been looking at alternative options. The original was a 4" aluminum driver.
Would I be able to install something like this: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=264-890?
The description says: "Tang Band W4-1805S 4" Neodymium Midrange Driver
This compact driver features a self-shielding neodymium magnet system, flat aluminum sandwich cone, integrated protective screen, truncated frame, and extremely low second and third order distortion. The Tang Band W4-1805S is intended for full range use as well as dedicated midrange, with very wide dispersion characteristics.
Specifications: • Power handling: 35 watts RMS/70 watts max • VCdia: 1-1/2" • Impedance: 6 ohms • Re: 5.6 ohms • Frequency range: 80-8,500 Hz • Fs: 80 Hz • SPL: 90 dB 1W/1m • Vas: 0.2 cu. ft. • Qms: 1.29 • Qes: 0.29 • Qts: 0.24 • Xmax: 0.45 mm • Dimensions: Overall diameter: 4.26" across flats, 4.94" overall, Cutout diameter: 3.8", Depth: 2.36"."
Also, if this turns out to be a suitable replacement, would I have to replace the other midrange drivers as well to keep them tonally similar? Thank you in advance for your input!
