  • Funky Waves TSAD18v1 18" Driver

I just saw an AVS post about a new 18 inch driver from Funky Waves -- TSAD18v1.

heads up guys. Funk built a driver!!! im buying a 18.0 from them, with their new driver (TSAD18v1)... just as good as the 5400 in most respects. very effortless bass check out the editorial on their site! its kinda entertaining to read
Now available for order; our new F18.0, and F18.3 subwoofers with our proprietary Funk Audio low distortion 18" driver featuring a 4.5" voice coil, Neodymium motor, and more. Contact us for more information or check www.funkaudio.ca for updates over the next few weeks.
I thought CHT forum members might be interested.
(BTW - I don't own any Funky Waves gear, but I have seen some of their cabinets at warpdrvs)
I think the assembled subs are at a different price point than CHT.

Apparently Funky Waves is changing their name to Funk Audio with a new site: http://www.funkaudio.ca/Hi-fi_Glory.html

Mike - Definitely two different price points. :)

    A pair of the 18.0's is $6240.

For $6240 here, we can get:

Two SS-18.2's and a Five pack of SHO-10's ($3450 delivered)
One Marathon 5050 amp ($800 delivered)
One Denon 4311 CI ($1500 delivered from One Call)
One Denon DBP-1611 Blu-Ray player ($400 delivered from One Call)

Total for this 5.1 system is $6150.

I got a price quote, shipped, from Nathan a few months ago on dual Funk 18s (that new driver). I wanted Warpdrv looks and performance but something unique-cool wood, new driver, etc.

Don't get me wrong, they would be AMAZING in both performance and looks. I could put them anywhere in my house and they would be the nicest furniture and subs I'd most likely ever own.

I'd also have to sell my car to get them.

His products are top notch, but even Seaton's stuff is below his regarding price points.

      Maybe some day.........:peeping:

His stuff does look pretty cool ... the dual subs plus 5 of his F 8.2P's would be about $11,000 ... add an appropriate Pre-Amp/Processsor and power amp, plus a good blu-ray player, and it could make for quite the $15,000 system for both looks and performance.

For a truly high end system, that's not bad!

          I know.
          Didn't mean it as competition.
Just cool news from a company that makes some nice looking/sounding gear.
