  • Replace Rockets with?

I have a 2 year old pair of 760's with a Bigfoot. I am not a young one anymore and my hearing isn't as good as it once was (mostly dialog). I struggle to hear my Bigfoot at times (at my levels) and was wondering if the Sho or Pro's would be a better fit for me. I have never listened to a horn speaker so I don't know what to expect. I also have my Bigfoot 3db more than my other speakers.

I don't listen to insane levels, usually at -20 to -15. I am good to go on my surrounds, rears and sub. I will be driving them with a Onkyo 707.

My budget is in line with the Sho's. I am looking for an upgrade, not a lateral move. Also, if I struggle to hear the Bigfoot would I expect the same from a Sho cc? This will be for about a 90-10 ht-music ratio. I like dynamics and sound stage.

I guess what I am saying is that the Rockets do sound fine, but I need to crank them to a volume that I am not comfortable with to indeed enjoy them. Thanks.

Sepen ... Ray will be picking up the latest SHO-10's in mid April. He is about a 30 minute drive, tops, from you.

We can probably get you guys together to let you try the SHO-10's for yourself. :)

Craig, I have been to Rays house, I auditioned the Rockets there before purchasing them. If he is up to it I am in. He has a gorgeous home and fantastic home theater. He also is quite amiable. :) Thanks.

        Hi Sam - I'm your guy! :)

I currently have 3 SHO-10s and a CS-18.1 Series 2. I'll be swapping them out for the newer SHO-10s with the slot vent and a SS-18.1. The nice thing is that the current setup has lotsa hours on them, so they would give you a pretty good idea of the sound quality.

          Ray,

What are you running for your surrounds now?

I once asked Danny Richie which of the two is better for center channel duty:

            1) Bigfoot Signature w/ No Rez, Sonicaps, and Mills resistors
            2) A Neo3S.

Danny said hands down, the Neo (which I am now building).

The Neo is amazing, but I would really like to hear the SHO/PRO 10.

Neo3 = ribbon tweeter, right? Pretty decent sensitivity too. Is there a common build that people do with this?
Most posts made under this account probably influenced by "kool-aid". Done drinking what Chase is offering, and my current views have significantly changed.

I've got to agree here. I have a Bigfoot and an N3-S both with sonicaps , no-rez, and platinum sonicaps. The N3 dances all over the Bigfoot.

The N3 has a very similar sound to the LS9's. Other than dynamics and bass extension, it probably sounds 80% as good as an LS9.
