  • Oh my 50!

So I have a gigantic bump in my 50hz range. Like 5dbs. It's driving me nuts. I can't even type educated sentences. Just 3-10 words ones. How can I fix this? How can I calibrate my sub if I don't? Match everything else and leave 50hz a mess? 50HZ IS EVERYWHERE! AHHHHHHHHHHHH

    :nervous:

What do you have that can fix it? Do you have a receiver with an EQ that you can use?

Certainly do not bring everything up to match, that will make a real mess of things, EQ the bump down instead.
    Regular guy.
Tubey or not tubey, that is the question :smoke1:

You're going to need to move the sub 'til you find a location where things even out. It isn't easy, and it is time consuming, but you should be able to make it happen. It might be as simple as moving it 6 inches left or right. It might take turning it sideways. It might take more. Won't know until you try.

"Like 5dbs" ... have you actually measured your room's response? What does a frequency sweep look like from 10hz-100hz? Before you going moving your sub, get some objective info with which you can decide if you should even move the sub or just calibrate it in its current location. Also, the objective measurements can be used to compare with the sub's new location (should you need move it).

I have done a sweep with DE, that's where I got the 5db from.

So all you have is one peak at 50hz? Everything else is good +-1 or 2db? 5db is not all that horrid ... do you have a parametric equalizer or a filter on your sub to use as such?

What did you measure with? Rat shack meter right? Is DE compensated for the radio shack meter? If not you may have more problems then you think. :dizzy:

Ugh you are right...that's probably why it sounds so obvious to me and it only looked like 5db. Grrrr

I would be thrilled, seriously. I have 10db modes in two of my rooms and one room has 3 modes over 6db. Get an EQ and tame that beast.... for the DIY crowd there is the Behringer + REW path and for the one stop shoppers you have the Anti-Mode 8033 and SMS-1..... Any of these should allow you to get that under control. of course there are always room treatments but taming a 5db at 50Hz is going to be hard...

you can always play with placement of the sub as well. That will have a huge effect as well...
