    FYI...
    SVS SB12-NSD, SB13-Plus and SB16-Ultra

    http://www.svsound.com/news-news.cfm

Good to see some news, but this is really delayed.
(See HTS Ultra 16 speculation thread -- LINK and AVS threads (OLD thread) and (NEW thread))

"By week’s end all the information about when these “killer SB’s” will arrive and how prices will shake out. And we’ll announce one other sub by week’s end. By year's end we'll provide a quartet of subs from $400 to $2,600... not a one of which will give mercy to any competitor even remotely close in size or price."

    Should be interesting.
It seems like TCA will have subs out before these new ones.

$2600 I'm assuming is for the 16 ultra....that's quite a bit more than I was anticipating. I thought it would clock in under $2k.

I agree... the PB13 has been around for quite a while now and the pricing hasn't really changed on it other than occasional sales. I'd have to see a heck of a lot to justify $2600 for the 16.

I own an SVS sub (circa 2005 I think) and like SVS.

However, if their news is accurate you can either have:

          SVS SB16-Ultra ~<$4000
          THREE TCA CS18.2's ~$3900
          (TCA pricing link)

Other than size/space issues (and finish, features, etc), that would be an interesting comparison of one SB16-Ultra vs. 3 CS18.2's based on sonic parameters.
Also, these are being announced and may release at similar dates.
          We live in interesting times...

I agree - I see the SB16-Ultra as a tough sell, when you consider the other options available.

In addition to the TCA options...

A single Submersive would cost only a little more than 1/2 the price of the Ultra... You could also get 3 Rythmik 15" subs for cheaper. Or maybe 4 Epik Empires....

Of course, if I had the money... I think I'd be content with a Submersive or a couple Rythmiks...

                SVS TAIWAN!?!?

                Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

To me, that is a very significant and undesirable change in strategy.

I recall the Made in the USA stance was a part of their (appropriate) marketing in the past.

I wonder how many subwoofer (or speaker) companies make everything in the US these days?

For $4000, that SB-16 ultra better mow my lawn. What a joke of a sub for that kind of money.

"SVS and our key suppliers need a bit more time to tighten down the dates for you. Pre-orders without dates of availability are not good in our book. These hotly anticipated subwoofers' schedules are only waiting for a few gaps in the parts count. We'll hope to have order pages up next week. A slicker, smaller, more powerful PB12-NSD?

The new Sledge STA-400D amp is coming there too. Metal grill? Custom port? Tighter dimensions? Check, check, and check. Somewhat more expensive, and worth every penny and more, as always at SVS. Late summer is the plan. More as soon as we update our exclusive regiononal dealers around the globe. "

TCA isn't the only ID sub maker that is behind schedule on subs.

Just goes to show that few products are brought to market without hiccups along the way. And before anyone starts naming some hiccupless products, keep in mind that not being aware of hiccups doesn't mean there weren't any. :huge:
