  • Tht???

What is with all of the THT talk going on at AVS Forum? If one is looking for exceptional punch in the gut and is not worried about WAF bc of hiding behind a screen, which has plenty of room, is this the way to go for the price involved? :no clue: I beileve the design is all about gettig the most out of a sub in an efficient albeit large cabinet.

Realistically what can these things do?

Other than the cab size what drivers and amps work best in tandom?

Anyone have published free plans for the cuts and instructions that would show what would be involved if this endeavor is started?

I ask this here bc there isn't so much fanfare taht you get over there or other forums.

You'll have to pony up the $15 for the plans, no one should be posting them on the web. They plans also tell reccomend two drivers, both Dayton Audio 15" subs, one is $150 and the other is around $80.

The plans are very detailed and there is some wiggle room for error, plus with all the documented bills out there you should have plenty to reference off of.

I built on and it's the best sub I've had to date, dual setups or otherwise. Some of the subs I've had in the past are dual Rythmik 12" (sealed) DIY, dual Infinity Kappa VQ 12" (ported), dual HSU VTF 3.2, dual Preimer Acoustics 12", SVS PB10, etc.

I already had a little mono-block amp I wasn't using so the entire build was around $275 for me. I don't have any max output graphs but here is an unaltered (bypassing the SMS-1) FR graph of the Tuba in my open room. You should have no problems reaching reference levels of bass with this sub.

It's just the latest DIY fad IMHO. I'm not trying to downtalk it. I haven't heard it. It just doesn't seem that interesting to me.

I still plan to go with a DIY setup consisting of two quad 15" sealed monsters (each with 2400W) in my HT.
          With a shovel...

36"wx36"hx24"d It's IMO the best option out there if you want to play with the big boys but don't have a lot of $$. Fad or not, there's no denying it's performance to dollar ratio.

Going to try and get it finished this weekend with some duratec.

For those who do not have electricion skills I see an added benefit to these THT running off normal outlets with out having to set up dedicated circuits for the subs. I am thinking about trying my hand at one of these and setting up a movie room in the basement. Now to start accumulating, :woo:

So are there two subs in that enclosure or just the one? I'm confused on how it works :scratchchin:

Just one in the Tuba HT, the Danely DST-10 has two drivers.

Is there a design that bill sells with two subs in it? Or is there anything else that has a design that has two subs? THT seems to be a great bang for the buck option. What are the size options of the THTs and the corresponding sub options? Any 18" sub options?

Not that I'm aware of. The THT is the biggest home theater sub in his lineup(with the biggest driver option being the 15"). You can alter the width from 18"-30", the height and depth need to stay the same for the plans to be applicable.

Well I replaced a lot of 18's in sealed and ported enclousures with this design and just bought a driver to build another. The sound is unreal and with some EQ does really well down low...I just sold some of my eD 18's to make space for this design...fad or not...it just replaced 2 years of building and designing...so there has to be something to it lol...check it out...its cheap and its insanely quality sound.

I like the design but it's going to push my rudimentary skills to the limit ;)
