H/K Bridge

I have a H/K 247 using rca cable adapter with my ipod. I have to turn the volume almost all the way up on the avr to reach reference levels. Way higher than listening to cd's or anything else. I was wondering if using the bridge if it would work better for my ipod.

I have it turned up all the way. It sounds ok but nothing near a cd. Loss of dynamics is one way to put it.
