  • Mini-GTG in Seattle: Skiing Ninja Ref3 upgrade VS stock

    Hey everyone.

I realize this is a late notice, but I’ve invited the Skiing Ninja to Seattle to upgrade my Reference 3 speakers with his newly designed crossovers. I’m looking forward to hearing what sort of difference it makes. Best of all, my neighbor also has a pair of Ref3s and I’ll be borrowing them for the weekend. This means we can do direct A/B comparisons… Stock VS Ninja. And since The Ninja will be here as well, it’s a great opportunity to talk shop.

    When: Saturday, Aug 8, 2009
    Time: 10:00am - whenever
Where: Seattle area – Eastside. About 15 minutes from downtown Seattle via I-90

This will be a low-key event, but very valuable. If you are interested in attending, please send me a PM.

    A little more information…
--I have an acoustically treated room that was built for home theater usage. This makes a great location for listening to the speakers.
--I also own a pair of LS-6s that I could cart into the room if there are folks interested in hearing these.

    Shawn,

I sent you a reply to your email but figured I post it here as well. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it but thank you for the invite! Me and the family are going to be down in Oregon with the rest of our family for the weekend. Have a great time, though!

Drat. I'm probably traveling to Seattle (from Portland) this weekend but don't think I'll be up in time for that listening comparison. I really liked the Ref-3 when I heard them at Shawn's a few year's back and would love to hear them compared to the Ninja-fied Ref-3s. A back to back with the LS6s would be a treat. Have a good time.

Come on peeps! I'm here in Washington and one Ref 3 has been upgraded with #2 happening today. We have another stock pair and an instant switcher so quick A/B's can be performed. You know you want to hear it :)

You're up here in Washington and you didn't give me a holler? Sean, I'm uber offended :hissyfit: The fact that I said uber should tell you how serious I am :D It's not fair that you get to play while I'm slaving away!!

That's not good to hear (but, unfortunately, not surprising). Maybe you can experiment on Shawn's.

                  j/k

Hope you guys have a good time today, and if I were closer, I'd definitely be there.

I'm just back in Colorado. You should expect several impressions here soon.

I had a great time and ended up installing the Ref 3 upgrades in two pairs of speakers.

I'll come back with my own comments once Shawn and Mike (the owners of the new Ref 3's) post theirs.
