bigfoot stand

I haven't been able to find a stand I like for my bigfoot. I'm considering building my own. I have found rosewood veneer on ebay but I don't know how to get the gloss black caps. Does anyone have an idea how I could achieve this look?

Everything I have read says that gloss black is very hard to do. Your best bet might be to go with a granite top or formica laminate. See stereodude's subwoofer he did in formica laminate:

I've built a sub for my living room that has piano black ends, just like the rockets. Several coats of black spray paint is all it took, wet sanding between coats. Finish off with turtle wax. It's pretty much what AV123 does. Mine came out Flawless!
