  • chipamp = wow

Well I finished my LM3886 based chipamp about 3 hours ago and so far I'm very impressed. This is my first kit so initially I was impressed that it did not burst into fiery death the moment I powered it up. But after to listening to it I am very impressed with the sound. It really seems like an amp made for people who like a laid back speaker. strong mids and killer bass, but the highs seem to be soft.

for any one who can solder and loves audio, I recommend trying a kit amp. Its a blast to build something that sounds this good.

        I built a kit from http://www.chipamp.com/

There is also http://audiosector.com/ which has an LM4780 kit that puts out 100 watts/channel when using the recommended 22volt transformer.

Wish I had the skills to make that tripath kit. It looks like a great stereo amp.
