  • Powering Ref 1's

You Ref 1 owners (or former owners) what do you use to power your Ref 1's? Or any recommendations would be appreciated. Desktop system so size matters!

I used to use an SP3. It did a decent job in a medium sized room, so for desktop, it would rock.

You didn't mention budget, but there are used sp3's on agon regularly for around $500 or less. And even though it's fairly heavy it's also pretty compact.

I use a Music Hall A25.2 integrated to drive my Ref 1s.

I used a Cambridge Audio 340a and now they are in my main system driven by emo lmc-1

Virtue ONE with 90w power supply is doing a fine job on desktop for me with Ref1s. You can't get much smaller than this amp. 2.75"W x 5.5"D; $308, but currently out of stock...

As it turns out, I was never banned. I was wrong yet again. First Obama, now this. :)

I have an SP3, it would be a great amp to use with Ref 1's but way too big for my desk!

I am using SP3 now, but have used Emo LPA-1 before. Perhaps not much help to you as both are too big for desktop setup.

Do you prefer the SP3 over the Emo?

Yes. I like it better with SP3.

I have got to hook up my ref 1s to my Virtue Two one of these days, but mine is nicely driving my minis.

I never became a fan of the Virtue, but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on a Virtue/Ref 1 combo.
