What would be a good choice to replace the stock Melody 6922 tubes in an SP3?

My Onix SP3 MKII came with an ElectroHarmonix 6922EH installed. Works well here! :)

Thanks Rich. As a new SP3 MKII owner, I was kind of curious too. :)

          bp,
Have seen both the Melody and EH 6922's in the SP3MKII's. Have not compared the two for sound quality.

The Amperex USA 6922 PQ's are well regarded, but a little pricey. I'm currently using NOS Russian Voskhod 6N23P's from eBay which were pretty cheap and sound good. Other popular choices I've seen listed are NOS Amperex Holland 6DJ8's and NOS Tesla 7DJ8's (PCC88).

Thanks for the suggestions, I will see what I can find. Still not sure I can hear the difference in tubes...but you never know until you try.

                A few sources I've used
Please be patient until I have build the new tube archive sites. Until then, please use this temporary site. Have fun! If you have some schematics for me, I really would appreciate to have them! If there’s anything on this page that doesn’t belong here according to you (copyright, etc), please tell me, I’ll remove… Read More »Mattijs’ tube circuit archives

I've found JAN 6922 to be a little microphonic, sometimes a little ping, when powered up, I've had had better luck with Siemens ,Telefunken and Valvo, but at substanially higher price. BTW not with an SP3

Lots of reading here on the last 2 links

My favorite (from when I owned gear with 6922 variants)
Amperex 6922, PQ, white label, US (shield, gold pins) Another very good Amperex tube. Warm yet lively, focused, grainless and transparent. A winner one of the best. Dynamic with punchy bass to boot....
