    Hello all need some advice..

I am going to finish out an attic space 12 X 18 for a dedicated HT. I have a MFW and ordered the 850 Rockets w/ 450s and the Bigfoot. I will be connecting a HTPC with built in Blue-Ray and a HD cable box, also I still use my networked ReplayTv (480p). I am looking at the Panny PT-AE3000 as the display.

Audioholics has a special going on for the Yamaha z7 $700 off or the 3900 $500 off. I looked at the Denon 3808ci also (street price are about $1100), its replacement is due next month.

I want something that will have 480p to 1080p upscaling with OSD on HDMI.
Of course it needs to drive the audio:jiggy: and under $2000.

I don't even have the room started yet but I am trying to get stuff together. Should I wait or snatch an AVR on sale?

Your thoughts would be sincerely appreciated.

If you like Yammys, Electronics Expo has the 3800 for under $1,000 shipped. I have the 1800 and it powers my Rockets just fine (At least for the 3 days I've had the Rockets so far). 3800 a little more powerful. I believe it upscales.

When do you expect your project to be finished? Time frame on that would dictate to me the answer to your last question.

        September-ish
I am hoping to finish in about 4 months. I am finishing up the Master Bath re-model now. I am doing the work myself, so self is pretty tolerant about missed deadlines.;)

I'd wait. The new Outlaw may be a good option. It's not available yet, but is supposed to be $1400. That won't leave much for your amp budget, but if you keep your eye out, you'll see the Outlaw 7125 for around $600-$700. Even though some AVR's will spec out more watts than the 7125, in the real world the Outlaw will have more grunt.

I think it would be hard to beat that combo in the $2k range.

Thanks Jason! I will read up on it, I have been reading up on the Emmo UMC-1. I kind of thought with the room size being kinda small that separates would be overkill.

I have been reading about price drops on the Pioneer AVR's with the ICE amps. The SC- 05 and 07.
For what its worth I compared the 07 to the Yamaha 3800 and the Denon 3808CI. I found that the 07 sounded better.

With the price drop they are worth looking into.

Man....I keep seeing the ICEpower name showing up more and more. Can someone fill me in on what the merits of these guys are? I know B&O developed them, but aren't they still a class D switching style amp?

I noticed that Rotel even has some ICE offerings now.

I have also looked at the 05/07 and you can get killer deals by e-mailing authorized dealers on audiogon/videogon. I am going to wait and see what the UMC-1 has to offer after its released (the menu screenshots look interesting). I have a THX ULTRA Pioneer from the early 90's but it only has s-video inputs. I just set it up in the living room driving Paradigm Mini Monitors v2 that I had boxed in the garage. The wife was really kicking me for 2ch in the living room! I took the toslink from the cablebox and fed it into the RCVR so she could listen to the music channels. I had forgotten how good they sounded. She is a 2ch nut but I am into HT. Now that our daughter is 5 we are getting back into playing music.

Right now, since dedicated room isn't complete and I don't foresee prices going up, I am going to focus on getting the soundproofing (GG) and other materials together.

I do appreciate the inputs from you guys,
