  • Quite Possibly The Most Insanse Single Commercial Sub

    We are doing a bid for a company building out a new restaurant here in Seattle and I'm in charge of the A/V estimate. I was looking up the speakers that were spec'd and came across this brand: Martin Audio. I'd never heard of them before so I go to their website and on the front page is this beast: http://www.martin-audio.com/products/asx.asp

    Specs:

    FEATURES

    * Ultra-efficient, with 152dB @ 1m half space maximum output
    * Hybrid® large folded horn and ported design, -3dB @ 30Hz
    * Single 21" (530mm)/6" (150mm) voice coil driver with 2.4" (60mm) peak-to-peak excursion
    * Dedicated Class D amplifier with 8.5kW peak power
    * Switched mode power supply with PFC (Power Factor Correction) and global mains voltage operation
    * DSP on board providing delay, EQ and filtering as well as amplifier and driver excursion limiting
    Yeah ... 152db peaks! That's louder than a jet engine at 30meters. 8.5 THOUSAND Watts! Now if it just went down to 10hz ... :biglaugh:

          I can't open this at work, but maybe this will have the price?

              Dang, someone on a Professional Audio forum said they were roughly a "bazillion" dollars so I take it they're a little pricey :dizzy:

                  60 MM Peak to Peak excursion is (normally) the 2 way X-Mechanical ability of the driver. This means the 21 inch driver would have 30 mm of X-mech and somewhat lower X-Max. 27 mm would be a good guess.

                  The 152 dB is 1 meter Ground Plane, and uses pink noise - no actual frequency is specified.

                  That said ... it DOES look cool. :burgerking:
