I thought it would be useful to have a summary of room and speakers analysis programs and equipment for people to refer to.

I am no means an expert on this and have only used Audyssey and Audyssey Pro, but I think as the subs role out from TCA that the ability to measure and share data will be helpful.

Please let me know what to add...

    Audyssey MultEQ Pro kit

    Audyssey Pro information
See my HT thread link (here & here) for info on personal (vs. dealer) ordering of Audyssey Pro

Better resolution (32 measures vs. 8) and ability to "see" the results (before/after screens).
    Link

    Installer Program - gear:
What’s included in the Installer Kit?
The Installer Kit includes a calibrated preamplifier, calibrated microphone, microphone stand, MultEQ Pro Application CD, mini-XLR cables, mini-XLR-to-RCA adapter, USB cable, R232 cable, and a carrying bag to hold it all.

    General Installer FAQ
    FYI...
(I added red. Important things I am/was looking at for using a laptop that might change and knowing the probable "Pro" cost versus buying on my own with the possibility of unlimited tweaking repeats.)

"How much should I charge for an Audyssey MultEQ Pro Calibration?
There is no MSRP for an Audyssey MultEQ Pro® Calibration. Pricing is set by the installer—a survey of all Audyssey installers found that the average selling price for the calibration is $500. An installer can adjust this price up or down depending on the number of measurements, time spent on the job, and expertise using the software application."

"Can I sell an Installer Kit to a customer? How much does it cost?
An installer may sell an Audyssey installer kit to a customer so he may calibrate his own system. MSRP for the Audyssey Installer Kit is $550."

"Can I install the MultEQ Pro® software application on more than one computer?
Yes. The MultEQ Pro® software application may be installed on multiple computers."

"Can I use the same license for multiple receivers?
No. Each Audyssey Installer-Ready product requires a separate license.

    Do License Keys expire?
Yes. Once you purchase a License Key it can be used any time in the next 30 days. If the installation happens after 30 days or if you wish to return to the customer for a re-calibration at a later time, you will have to re-generate a new key (at no cost). This is done by logging in on the Audyssey Installer website and clicking “generate new key” (under Purchase/Activate MultEQ Pro Licenses)."

Now that Audyssey MultiEQ XT32 is out, wonder if anyone has tried this and seen any improvements? Has MCACC or YPAO seen improvements?

I know I always have to tweak each channel after an auto setup to equalize the volume a db or two. And I've heard quite a few complaints about auto setup, particularly with crossover being too high (sounds like post correcting this won't include any equalization below what was auto set), or too low which always happens for me.

So, my biggest question is, is manual correction the way to go, and do most receivers give you the ability to set the level for each equalization range by playing a tone in that range so you can use a meter to adjust?

Auto correction takes a good amount of time, especially with 9 point tests. I would think the manual method if it's available, would be a bit quicker? And does it give you a better soundstage and overall experience?

                iPhone SPL meter application recs?

                Cross posted here, but...

Anyone using iPhone sound pressure level (SPL) apps?
                Recommendations?

I just read a Sterophile review where he was looking at the SPL at a concert and thought it might be neat.
One of the apps descriptions said it is better than the RS meter, which I doubt.

Also, I've seen: Audio Tools ($19.99) - SPL, RTA, Generator, Line Level Tests, Audio Scope...etc

Studio Six Digital SPL Meter (or just "SPL") has some high rankings but one is $0.99 and one is $8.99

I've also seen noted a difference with the 3G microphone, but no mention of the iPhone 4 mic.

                Thoughts?

I was thinking of starting a separate thread/poll linked to this thread asking people what EQ/calibration they use.

                        Dayton OmniMic Precision Measurement System

                        Anyone using this...

                        Dayton OmniMic Precision Measurement System
                        From AVS Thread:
Looks like Dayton has made the move to come up with a very simple system for measuring, with a calibrated usb mic. Seeing as I haven't had the best luck with REW on the hardware side I'm going to pick one of these up when they become avail. but it looks promising & simple from what I can see...

Kal Rubinson stated he'll be getting one, I would imagine to put up against the XTZ unit.

This is finally available? It is new, so no one has it yet, but I expect it to become pretty popular.

It is available at Parts Express now (see links above)
                            Check out the AVS thread.
Someone was posting graphs in either the Audyssey or Seaton AVS threads.
I'll try to track that down and link later.
I tried REW, but never really got the hang of it.
                            This might work for me.
                            Do I need it, no.
                            (Well, define "need" :poke:)

This might be a price sweet spot to get more people measuring and posting results.
