  • Thinking about getting a WII

My 82 year old Mom is coming for a visit and to be honest after about 30 minutes I just plain run out of conversation. And she'll be here for a while. She likes to bowl and play other games like darts ( she's actually pretty good). So I'm I thinking about getting a WII, would it make her go :woo:? Would it be age appropriate?

How are these games and do you have to buy everything separate? You guys recommend this? What about WII Fit ? That's extra right?

I've never seen anyone not enjoy themselves with the bowling game or better said....everyone likes the bowling game. Just watching the interaction is fun. Heck, she may enjoy just making her MII. Fit is extra....if she exercises or does yoga, she may also like Fit.

My mid-60's parents just bought a Wii. They wanted to get a Wii fit, but haven't gotten it yet, so it's just been bowling and the like so far. They realy enjoy it!

Wll is one of the hottest items in nursing homes.

Lots of fun, easy to learn, and just enough exercise.

Yes, buy a WII and a wiimote controller for everyone. The novelty takes weeks to wear off, and thats just for Wii sports alone. I'm still frustrated that I can't get better than a 299 in Wii bowling :crying:

The Wii rocks even for relative youngsters such as myself.

Dooo eeet, even my in-laws in their 60s enjoy a game of bowling.

I shoulda bought some stock in Nintendo? Expanding the age range of video games was sheer genius.

I had a Wii delivered to my sister's house (it was supposed to be MINE) for Christmas 2007 and everyone that came over during the week, from teens to 50-somethings and in-between, LOVED the bowling game that comes with the supplied game package. When it was time for my wife and I to head home I ended up leaving it at my sister's because it was such a big hit and just got myself another one from Amazon.

If you get a Wii then make sure to do as suggested and get the second controller. Makes things a lot easier.

I've since given her a Wii Fit which she loves, haven't unpacked mine yet (I'm still waiting for the UNFit, more my style :) ).

The Wii is terrific! The bowling game that comes with it is habit forming. Over the winter, we have bowling parties. Folks enjoy it so much it's hard to get them to go home.

                Some suggestions:
-Buy extra remotes (get to 4 total)

-When you have someone over, pre-design their Mii. Tey always get a big kick out of it.

-Get these component canbles from monoprice. The improvement in PQ is noticeable and they are MUCH more expensive elsewhere.

I think WiiPlay comes with darts, so if you're picking up a Wii might as well pick up WiiPlay for the extra remote and darts.

The Wii fit is good for what it is but it isn't a fun game. Get a wii and wii play and have some fun with it.
