  • Swans (Birds, not Speakers)

The arrival of snow today in Bham (for the first time in many years) and the purchase last week of my first "professional" lens got me in the mood to try to track down some swans that hang out in a local pond.

I got lucky. While I would rather have shots of the swans when the fall colors reflect off the water, these turned out OK. I hope you like.

Nice pictures. Lots of us B'ham folks here. We could, like, start a gang, or something.

Just beating others to the punch:

          There, stole Django's thunder....:neener:

Sorry Mike - more great pics!

Ha!! There's probably a mobile home joke or two in our future, as well.

Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VR. Incredible lens. Now I just have to figure out how to use it.

                Thanks for the kind words.

That's really nice, Mike. It captures this time of year perfectly.

Great shots Mike. I really like the look the water has in #3. Something special on your end to achieve that?
As it turns out, I was never banned. I was wrong yet again. First Obama, now this. :)

Thanks. Fair amount of PP in CS4, including NIK filters.

Excellent pictures Mike. I like the #1 most. Very nice composition and great details. :)

70-200mm f/2.8 is on my wish list, but it is not going to happen anytime soon.

So next is perhaps a TC. :)

I just picked up a 1.4 TC from a forum member on the Nikonians. I struggled with whether to get a 1.7 TC, but finally decided that I wanted the sharpness that one gets with the 1.4.

Thanks for the kind words. My fav is a tie between 1 and 4. I used a different technique on each of those shots.
