Thanks Hawkeye...I'm really pleased with how they came out...I really didn't like the X bases...a buddy of mine who does great work made them...I think he'd do a run of them if enough LS owners wanted to try something different...

Those look very nice! - how stable are the speakers as opposed to the x-base?

Anything that can be traced and has a bolt pattern, he can figure out.

I am amazed by the creativity of some of the hobbyists. Arthur's new bases look stunning, and take a peek at what one owner did himself to steady his Axioms, in GLASS yet (I think he's in the glass biz). Click Thumbnails for larger images.

Those glass bases are very cool...wonder how thick the glass would have to be to support LS's :no clue:

Art, thank you for posting the photos of your bases. I'm pleasantly surprised with the responses. I trolled around the forum yesterday and decided to join. Seems like there are some good folks on board.

Pricing for the bases will have to start at $150.00 per side for straightforward bases with no extras. The "staights" will have all soft corners, the 7-coat piano black finish with the glazed final coats. To build them I will need the speaker trace and bolt pattern of the base. The bases are not limited to the LS system and can be built for any speaker with a removable base. I'll need to know if any "extras" are desired by the customer; there may or may not be additional charges for those. In addition, I will need to charge for delivery to the customer. The finish is highly reflective and the bases are heavy so special attention is needed to get the bases to the customer safely.

I can be reached at [email protected] or by PM, here, by those who are seriously interested in having these bases built.

Again, thanks to Art for his trust--I don't take that lightly.

Welcome to the forum . And as a mod here if anyone gives you any **** let me know.

I fir one would be very interested in a pair of bases . I own the LS6's and have the flying squirrel bases and have always hated them.

A knock at the door said "Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms" I thought it was a delivery.:biglaugh:

                            Much obliged for the welcome

Just let me know when you decide for sure.

The bases are built to order, first come-first served style. I'll only take your money when they're ready to ship.

A note about the bases built for Art. There are no straight lines or angles and we embedded the 1" square GR emblem in the bullnose. This means Art paid a premium for his and I hope he is happy with the results. Art's the designer of the bases and the elevating reveal that creates the illusion of the floating enclosure. Feel free to let me know if you have any custom ideas along those lines, but realise the additions may cost more to produce.

                            Thanks again.

I was right. He works for "a huge glass company" thus got a big discount. He said that, if he had to pay full price for them, they would be "not budget friendly at all." I can believe it.

He says the glass is 1/2" thick and annealed, as opposed to tempered.
