  • Poll: How Will This Turn Out?

What is your view on whether Mark/AV123 will be able to satisfy, before the end of 2009, their obligations to deliver all refunds/products that are owed to their customers? I find that I have mood swings with respect to Mark/AV123. One day I am pessimistic, fearing that they have dug too deep a hole to recover. The next day I am optimistic, believing that Mark realizes that he has screwed up and will move heaven and earth to make things right and regain his legacy as one of the audio greats.

I say it entirely depends on the man's health. If he proceedure was a success and he starts to feel better I think all the other peices for him fall into place. So lets all hope for the best for MLS and everything gets done.

I disagree and will say not much will depend on the man's health. I would venture to even say that I have even thought another commanding officer could take his place and do quite well.

How will this all turn out with the refunds and such?.... man o man... I should bite my tongue on this.................

TOTAL OPINION AND I LOVE MLS AND AV123

I think that AV123.com will continue onward without Mark and will attempt to distance itself from him in the future as he has caused irreperable damage imo. The image of the company is tarnished and he is the "image." Its unfortunate as he built this city to be what it is today... but I think its time for the other owner and company to part ways (with mark). I believe they will place alot of blame on schifter and say that returns, refunds, etc.. are all his fault and some refunds won't ever be had. AV123 will be separate from Mark in a big way this year imo.
I also think the powers that be will let Mark gracefully leave center stage...
It will be a letter from Mark talking about how its his time to step down and how he loves us etc... but his health doesn't correlate with running this biz.

TOTAL OPINION AND I LOVE MLS AND AV123

Anyhow... something like that is what I think will happen. Thanks for asking :kissass:

The OP asked "how will this turn out" in the ADULT SWIM section of this forum. If you have nothing useful to add but off topic banter, tread elsewhere.

ORLY? I suppose my opinions is less valid than yours? I think not, I'm just giving the OP my opinion of his thread topic. Maybe it will encourage less of this silly speculation. Then again, probably not...carry on you gaggle of geese...

LOL... your opinion is that we don't need his thread. Good advice to the OP. :clapper:

What would encourage less speculation would be for AV123 to keep its promise to provide updates.

I agree with you. You're post is just a tangent. The question is how do you think this will all end up? Everyone here hopes the best for MLS and his health, or they would be complete ****ing assholes. As to complaining and venting... I didn't write my post in response to the OP to complain or vent. It's like when your watching a movie... and you think you know the end and the other person you're watching it with has already seen the end.... its fun to guess :salute:

Yes, but I'm betting the same thing rumonkey probably is..that this is quickly going to derail into a *****ing thread. Even if it doesn't, if Mark were to see this, it's not going to do his health any favors.

I feel for the poor guy. I'd personally rather not see any more threads opening up debating AV123's uncertain future, but I can't stop them from happening.

I worked part time for AV123 for most of last year. While almost every day I worked, it was with Lynn and had a number of brief conversations with Mark, I can't say I know much about their business plans.

We all know Mark has a deep passion for this business in general and AV123 in particular and Lynn shares his passion. We also know, and Mark has mentioned, often, the challenges he and AV123 have encountered. Challenges both of their own doing and others less under their control.

                            What follows is only opinion.

I believe Mark has staked out a market, high quality gear at very low prices, which he is struggling to maintain. Business decisions regarding the source and costs of the materials have turned out to be less then optimal. Attempts to mitigate the problems appeared to be more of those same types of business decisions which had similar results and the downward spiral worsened.

Can AV123 recover? Sure, but not by playing the game the same way it's been played the past couple of years. I think AV123 needs to unofficially do the equivalent of declaring bankruptcy. Don't get excited, I don't mean stop paying creditors or providing refunds or delivery products. I mean reorganize and develop a comprehensive, and simple, business plan. A plan based on contracting their product line to include a relatively small set of core products. Those being ones that represent their entries in the market that I mentioned earlier. But the key is sell only those products which can be readily delivered and produce delighted customers. There is no margin for error.

I think I've seen Mark use the phrase "under promise and over deliver" (or something like that). I disagree. I'd suggest a different hackneyed phrase, AV123 needs to "say what they do and do what they say", period, nothing more and most definitely nothing less.

Put a 6 month (or more) moratorium on big announcements. Stop announcing that they will be announcing something. Stop telling us to expect an announcement. Stop telling (and more importantly) selling the greatest advancement in audio history, is coming and start delivering value, today.

The AV123 brand should not be Mark, as it appears to be today, it should be the core products it sells. Mark can be the primary face of the brand, but ultimately, the brand must stand on it's own.

My 2 cents, no refunds or returns please.

I believe av123 will talk about getting everyone taken care of and then there will be another "issue". And then there will be promises about changes or reasons why those promises didn't get kept. That will soon be followed by more promises and apologies.

While I hope I'm wrong, history is on my side.
