  • Just placed an order

Hey guys I just place an order for 5 M1's and a pair of SS18.1's with a MQ600 amp.

I am excited and it isn't even for me, its for my brother. His theater room isn't finished yet so I will get to demo everything until it is.

I have a pair of MFW15's hummmm and older polk LRC R400(I Love the towers but the center has room for improvement.) I will post my thoughts after we receive the order.:woo:

Received the speakers yesterday and had a brief listening session. I will try and get more listening in today, and post thoughts

OK quick question guys. So I have a single rca going thru an adapter to the balanced A input. I have an ONKYO 709. I have the amp outputting 1 sub per channel (8 Ohm I believe)Do I set it as bridged mono or stereo? also which input sensitivity. And I assume I leave the crossover as passthru. Clip as 4 ohm or 8 ohm. I assume I only use ground lift if needed.

You are only using one channel - are you using a jumper cable to connect the two subs? You can also get a splitter and another adaptor, set the unit to stereo and 8 ohms, and run one sub per channel.

input sensitivity is at the 0.775 V setting. Crossover at pass through. :salute:

Ok so I need an RCA splitter and another adapter to use both channels? I have the speakers hooked up one to each channel.

No. There is a switch on the back of the amp that sends the 1 input signal to both channels. Read the manual for the amp.

Looking at the description of the Onkyo 709, it is a 7.2 receiver and there are two rca outputs for subwoofers. So if you wanted to run the two subs discreet (not technically stereo - low frequency is non directional - you can't hear any channel differences), you'd get a second rca cable with adapter to run to input B and use the "stereo" setting on the amp. The advantages of this will be that the AVR will set the correct distance of each sub (delay), and equalize each sub at it's position.

If you use only one sub output from receiver, and let the amp individually use the same signal to each sub, the receiver averages the distances and equalization of both subs when you run Audyssey. If the subs are about the same distance to the microphone, then this will be about as good as running discreet.

Also, note that using one input to two channels, the subs give an 8 ohm load to each channel.

OK thanks, It looks like I could also bridge the subs and run them at 4 ohms/1000watts per sub. Maybe if the output isn't enough. :D
