  • Which version of TaxCut?

My dad and I were discussing HR Block's TaxCut software versions this week as we're both about to do our filings, so I thought I'd look a few things up online today.. I thought I'd post here also, since, well..., we all have to do our taxes as SOME point ... or at least, if you're not planning on taking public office.. ( :dizzy: )

Online, HRBlock shows that state costs $29.95 (per state) to download the state software..

Staples has the following (ALL include free federal e-file):
    • taxcut basic ($20) + online state purchase ($30) = $50
    • taxcut premium ($35) + online state purchase ($30) = $65
    • taxcut premium + state = $45 (no online purchase) = $45

In all cases above, STATE e-files ($15 I think) are not included...

So to me it looks like buying premium + state + fed. efile is actually the better deal. And at Staples right now you can get a 2GB flash drive free (*after* mail-in rebate)..

    Am I missing something?

I've used HR Blocks on line filing service for years without an issue. I usually get charge in the $30-$40 dollar range. I'm sure the other services are much the same though.

That is the one that I bought in late November early December.
