    Looking good!

    Background on development

    and soon available!

If you never played Half-Life, this is a great chance to experience one of the greatest FPS ever created. If you have, you'll probably want to give it a try on the newer, albeit old itself now, source engine. No doubt it should be a giant leap forward in the graphics department.

Well, I can see this didn't generate a lot of interest here, but it went live today. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try it out over the next couple weeks. The days are getting shorter, and so my work around the house is ending earlier, at least for awhile :D :applause:

In all honesty I saw this thread titled "Black Mesa", and never bothered to read it due to not knowing what the hell Black Mesa is LOL. I thought maybe it was a camp site or a hiking trail. Just now I said to hell with it, let's see what it is and I'm now glad I did! HL 1 was 1 of my all time favorite games. And HL 2 while not quite as good I did enjoy it as well. I'm still holding out up for there to be an HL3.

After being a hardcore gamer since I was about 7 years old. I just completely lost all interest in gaming about 5 years ago or so. For me that's about 30 years of playing tons and tons of games and it just seems like they're just not any fun anymore. I'm dl'ing Black Mesa right now just for the hell of it. So maybe I'll check it out. I have a feeling it might just sit here on my desktop for awhile though. :(

Thanks for posting about it. Maybe this thread would get more interest if the title were a bit more clearer.

Yeah, I can see your point about thread title, I've been bad with thread titles lately! :doh! 1:

You will have to install Steam, and then download the Source 2007 SDK to play it, but it's all free.

            LOL.......

            Thanks for the info.

I'll dl all that and check it out. HL 1 was 1 of my all time favorite single player games. Multi kind of sucked. At least when counter strike came along. Nothing but campers in that game. :doh! 1:

I loved Multiplayer HL. There was a lot of "find the best weapon" (the gauss gun rocked!), but it was fun to play. I never liked/played CS, but stuck with HL multi until Unreal Tournament came around.

I'll have to check out Black Mesa - fond memories. Even my wife, who only played multiplayer a couple times and never the single player, once made a comment about needing to smash some crates when she was holding a crowbar...

Well, we have had a lot of rain this week, so I had time to play this. FWIW, I had removed Steam during a system rebuild last Christmas, and so had nothing Steam still involved.

I installed the client, download the SDK, and installed the game. No shortcut is created, so I thought something was up, and reinstalled Black Mesa and was up and running. The next night again, I couldn't find a shortcut. Long story short, I google'd it, and I'm not alone. There are ways around this, but if you'd rather avoid the hassle wait for it to get on Steam.

The game itself is an awesome tribute to the original, hard to believe how good this looks redone on the Source engine. I can't believe how much I forgot! :applause:

I thought he was talking about this place - http://www.blackmesagolfclub.com/index.php

Very scenic and unique golf course if you ever get the chance to play it.
