    Favorite quote,"

"We all like to be recognized not for one piece of fireworks, but for the ledger of our daily work."

True hero, but he would never accept it - "Just my job."

I stayed up a bit late last night, and watched footage of the crew getting their awards from back several years ago. A great loss to our society for sure! Men of this type are far and few between these days.

Buzz was supposed to be the 1st on the moon. Neil positioned himself in the capsule to be 1st fwiw. :peeping:

I'm going completely off memory, but, I recall Buzz was a bit egotistical, and not fully a team player. Wasn't he the one that blew the door after touchdown, sinking the capsule? If both are true, the decision to go with Neil was in retrospect, a good one.

Between movies and time, I'm probably wrong.

It was Grissom that blew the hatch, and I see no mention of selfishness in Buzz's career. As usuall, I need to filter memories with google.

Side note - when I was 9, my father got me into the warehouse where they stored the Friendship 7 - John Glenn's capsule after it's flight. I could barely fit, even without the main instrument panel installed, and, I had no space suit on! Now, it's sealed and on display at the Smithsonian.

                Godspeed, Mr. Armstrong! :salute:

Who would be/was first shows just how silly we humans really are. In reality, it doesn't matter one whit. Still, great significance has been attached to it.

I am proud that our species was able to accomplish such a task, and that there are people that would put themselves in such a dire position in order to further our understanding of the cosmos.

Considering that we have been given an orgasm dispenser in front, and hands.... I am amazed we even discovered a means to make fire. :biglaugh:

I was at the USAF Museum last Friday and they have the Apollo 15 capsule there. Such a tiny place to live with 2 other guys while you are a couple hundred thousand miles from home!
