Does anybody care about these movies? I hate to *****, but hearing Lucas anymore is just about enough to make me puke.

Bringing out stuff just to release in 3D is jack.

If it's got true increases in audio quality, in channel separation, sound stage, dynamics, extension, along with video resolution/aspect ratio, then it could very well be worth revisiting. I think George is loading his retirement. Steven Spielberg needs to go back to old school as well.

A very bad example for me was Blazing Saddles - take the DVD and put it on blu-ray with no changes. Just for someone to make money.

I've had War of the Worlds on blu-ray sitting around, I think it really could kick butt over the DVD I enjoyed, but watching movies twice to me is a bit dull, especially if there's little noticeable improvement.

I've read some pretty good reviews of it, and my kids are dying to go. True story, when Episode 1 came out I spent the night in a movie theater parking lot to get tickets the next day. It was really an awesome time, we partied all night. Get the tickets and a week later we are at the midnight showing. Movie starts, everyone is all jacked. Slowly, the excitement dies. They introduce obviously racist character types, midichloridians, etc; By the time we all wandered out we were looking at each other going "What in the hell just happened here?"

I couldn't have said it better, I was so pumped for the movie that took that day off from work!

I'm taking my son to go see it this weekend. He LOVES Star Wars and its one of the few movies we can watch together (he's 9). So for me its more of a father/son time than a seeing what they are remastering and bringing out thing. YMMV though for sure.

So we'll go see it for the 2d-3d conversion and the high res! I haven't bought the blu-ray yet so it'll be a nice increase on all levels for us :applause:

When Episode 1 tickets went on sale I waited 14 hours and bought 7 for the first weekend.

The day it premiered I waited 11 hours in line outside the theater with the biggest non-imax screen in Chicago.

And I don't know how to explain it but I loved it! Seeing the Jedi in their prime was awesome! Jar Jar was fascinating to me as he was completely digital.

I didn't think about racial stereotypes. Aliens having different dialects. Why is this such a controversy?

The concept of midiclorians was new but it didn't bother me. If anything I thought it was interesting that being able to use the force was a measurable trait. I would think in such an advanced universe it should be.

If I had anything to complain about it was that the lulls between the action were a bit stretched.

I really enjoyed Attack of the Clones as well. Anakin as an awkward teenager was well done and holy crap the battle at the end was awesome!

Of the prequels my favorite is Revenge of the Sith. Palpatine's political career, his friendship with Anakin, and the machinations of war all culminate into the most diabolical of coups. And it made sense. The only way the Jedi could be defeated was en mass by multiple armies. It was brilliant.

Anakin's fall to the dark side was well done too. I know how insecurity mixed with power can be a volitile combination. People can make rash, emotion-driven choices. Regrettable choices.

Star Wars was always meant to be a popcorn movie. It's also based on classic mythology which tells a tale of the hero and his journey. This is part of why it resonates with so many across the globe.

It's not perfect either. I can pick nits in all 6 movies but I'm not a hater. I love the world of Star Wars. I've loved it for 35 years. The philosophy in Star Wars resonates with me better than any religion ever did.

And I have a lot of respect for Lucas. He did it his way and earned his money. It will always be his baby and while I don't agree with a couple of his changes I respect his work enough to give him a pass.

On my way in to work last Friday, the 3D release was being discussed on the radio, and a clip of Lucas' interview was on there with him saying something about 3D that does the pokey thing and 3D that fills the movie and envelopes the audience, which is what of course he did. What I heard though was, "I'm whoring out another revision of my movies, resistance is futile, you will be assimilated".

As fate would have it, my wife and I watched our nephews Friday night, and they are huge Star War fans. Naturally, we watched Episode I :doh! 1:

I'm not a hater, and didn't mean to give that impression if I did. I loved the original trilogy, and thought the prequels were okay. A lot of stiff acting in all of them, but the epic battle scenes did save them IMO.

Saw it with my kids. 3D added some decent depth especially on the space scenes, but otherwise it was pretty pointless.

If I were Lucas I'd keep riding that gravy train until the day I died and maybe even a few years afterwards.
What's the difference between what he is doing and say a musician playing the same popular song onstage every gig?
I shaved my balls for this :salute:

Funny how musicians change the way they play their songs over the years too.

There are many reasons for this. Some include boredom with playing the same thing over and over, drugs or other substances, fatigue from touring, older age some songs tend to slow down (think speed metal), singers can't hit the high notes anymore (Robert Plant, Ozzy, Geddy Lee, etc.), mood of the band that night, or even just being goofy. :raspberry:
Even George Lucas changed the first three Star Wars when they remastered them. Han Solo steps on Jaba's tail in the remaster or the Deathstar having a more dramatic explosion.

I'd agreee with that. I think the prequels would have been considered pretty good in their own right if they didn't have the "Star Wars" name attached to them and all expectation that comes with that.

Like many others have said, I remeber camping ou tin line to see the first showing of Episode 1. And I liked it enough that I saw it a second time in the theater (one of only 4-5 movies I can say that about) and bought the DVD. Sure I wish it didn't have Jar-Jar and that young Annakin acted a bit better, but it has Jedi, starships, light sabers, and a John Williams score!
