  • Kitchen Faucet input needed

I installed a Moen faucet about eight years ago when we remodeled our kitchen. Needless to say this Moen isn't the Moen quality I'm used to, I won't bother you with the details. I'm considering Kohler, as we have a Kohler cast iron sink anyway, and the white should match better.

    Any faucet suggestions?

<edit> should have posted in DIY, the delete function seems to be missing, or I can't find it one.

I guess if you are crossing off Moen, then don't look, but I put a different finish of this model on my bar in my theater and it works fantastic.

Yeah, just hope they didn't cheap out on the parts "under the hood". This is the problem I have with where Moen has gone. I had to take ours apart to replace the cartridge, and this is when I noticed large portions of the body are steel, not brass, copper or even stainless steel. Chunks of rusty metal are falling in the below cabinet every time you swing the faucet right and left. This is assuming you can even get it to move.

Where did you get it from?

I believe it was faucet depot, or something along those lines. I spoke to Moen, and they are willing to send me a rebuild kit, but then ask what parts I need. Obviously, I'm going to have to disassemble it to determine this as I don't remember. If it comes out, it getting replaced.

But wait, for $59.00 they will send me the new model. It gets worse reviews on Amazon.

          I'm leaning towards this one.

Unfortunately with the advent of big box stores and now the internet, many of the companies that made substantial products have price pressured into also making lower grade lines, not that the one on Amazon is that low in price.

A number of years ago one of my employees who also part timed at HD. His cousin is a licensed plumber and bemoaned to him about how his business was going, that he would bring in a faucet that he knew was good quality but high priced, and the customer would pull out an HD faucet by the same manufacturer that very closely resembled the one he wanted to put in. Despite him telling the customer that the longevity was not going to be the same, guess what was put in .....

I've seen the same thing with the auto parts that my old company used to make. Price pressures from the consumer stores like O'Rileys / Advance / Autozone have required business like NAPA to also dumb down their line to stay competitive.
