  • Happiness is contagious in social networks

I stumbled upon this CNN story about a medical/psychiatry study...

    Link

Happiness is contagious in social networks

    Story Highlights
    - Study: Happiness spreads more reliably than unhappiness in a network
    - You are 15 percent more likely to be happy if your direct connection is happy
    - People who smile on Facebook are generally friends with other smilers
    - Cigarette smoking and obesity also spread in social networks

"New research shows that in a social network, happiness spreads among people up to three degrees removed from one another. That means when you feel happy, a friend of a friend of a friend has a slightly higher likelihood of feeling happy too.
The lesson is that taking control of your own happiness can positively affect others, says James Fowler, co-author of the study and professor of political science at the University of California in San Diego."

Given the generally bad mood in the US regarding the economy and some issues and forum discussion about the av123 thread, I thought this was interesting.

This study agree with my impressions of the positive energy that people feel on the forums when they read posts from people they know or don't know with about new gear excitement, show pics, etc.

I think we would all be a lot happier if you could post some pics of your completed 1080p front projection setup :D

      You made me laugh!
      :jiggy:

I would also be happy to see that as well!
As would my wife who doesn't like a 25ft HDMI cable snaked around the "Home Theater" (not yet) room to a 42" LCD TV.

It's really funny you noticed that.
I was just emailing a local installer, a calibrator in Chicago, and Jason Turk at AVS.

      :huge:

No pics of full setup yet, but here is some info:
      Here is my system:

        Good points ...

As we enter the Christmas season, which picture makes you happier ?

        This one ?

Note, the pretty smile and overall positive attitude ?

        OR ...

        This one ?

And, just for the record, there is no evidence that she is Jack's (Ajax) girlfriend.

Actually the second makes me happier, but the first one has clothes on. Of course, I am very happy that the second one also has clothes on.
