  • Air Show 9-11-2011

The Blue Angels performed in Lincoln, NE this afternoon, an air show in commemoration of the 9/11 10 year anniversary. They chose Lincoln because of the success of a 2006 show they gave, and the enthusiasm of the crowd that year.

I was hoping my little point and click would give me some good photos, and it did. Wish I would have taken a few more. I'll post some up tomorrow evening.

I look and feel a like a boiled lobster. :crying: :violin 1:

Blue Angels cruise the street a few blocks over from my house, two days before the show. I took this shot from my driveway. :applause:

HA! A gentleman named Paul Stender pilots that bad boy to speeds up to 70 mph. Afterwards, he jumped into the largest jet powered vehicle in the world, the School Time Jet-Powered School Bus. With a 42,000 horsepower General Electric jet engine taken from an F4 fighter, the bus was clocked at 337 mph that day.

Yeah, that is what I thought, too...In a brick like BUS?!? That takes some work to accomplish, I'd like to see the suspension for one thing. Watching the bus accelerate to that speed was something else. 150 gallons of fuel is burned, and it has hit 367 mph before.

Well if trains can do it, why not a bus. Though I'll take a pass if offered a ride in that thing.
