  • What beer are you drinking now?

Since the AV123 site is down and I have no place (ok, no AV-centric place) to post and inquire about brews...

What beer are you drinking now?
Last night I had a Central Waters Imperial Stout.
Not a huge head, but deep, rich, tasty.

I'm usually more of an ale and especially IPA guy, but during the winter I like my share of stouts and porters.

      Central Waters Brewing Company

      Snock -

      Here's the link:
Events on Tap Donation Request Community support is essential to the Central

My brother knows one of the owners and introduced me to the beers.

This weekend I bought the stout and a 6 pack of honey blonde (for wife, on website it says only available in draft, so this must be new).
I really was eyeing the Lac Du Bay IPA, but I've already got a few IPA's at home.
The Ouisconsing Red Ale is really nice.

I like this quote from the site:

      OUISCONSING RED ALE
This smooth amber ale with its mellow nutty flavor and subtle flowery nose is a hit with even the newest of speciality beer drinkers.
Named from the Algonquin word for the Wisconsin River, Ouisconsing Red makes even our neighbors to the south and west "want to be a Badger."

TX had some good brews, but WI has a lot to choose from.

      Cheers,

      Mike

        m-fine Martini:

        1) Place one bottle Zyr vodka in freezer
        2) Place a martini glass in freezer
        3) Wait 'til both are really cold
        4) Remove glass from freezer
        5) Remove vodka from freezer
        6) Pour cold vodka into cold glass
        7) Return vodka to freezer
        8) Empty contents of glass into mouth
        9) Repeat steps 5 through 9 until vodka is gone or you are no longer able to walk back to the freezer.

What is your take on how much taste difference there is between various vodkas?

Super. Thanks for the linkage. I often find myself in madison for family reunions so perhaps i can sample first hand soon. :)

              Nice!

A lot of people in WI drink New Glarus, but I only like a subset of their beers.

              Some other good WI brews:
              - Sprecher - anything
              - Lakefront Brewery
              - Capital

I suggest whatever is on tap at the UW Union terrace in the summer as you lounge by Lake Mendota.

Huge to me, and no it is not always price correlated. Try a few side by side and you will be able to tell them apart.

I had a local (San Fran) IPA on tap last night.
                      Can't recall the name.
Nice amounts of hops, good color.
                      Nice and cold.

                      Mike

EDIT: I found my receipt - Lagunitas IPA

Dogfish Head World Wide Stout. Hard to call this a beer. More like cross between a beer and a good scotch! :)
