  • The official I HATE UPS Thread

    Why? Why do companies use UPS over Fedex? Is it because they HATE their customers? Do they despise customer service? I have another amp that has been sitting in limbo due to adverse weather conditions for over a week now. Last year UPS lost three center speakers I ordered. They lost the original. Shipped the replacement to the wrong address and tried to reroute it which ended up being lost. And shipped the third one to the wrong apartment which was lost.

    And I can't count how many times my subs and other equipment have come beat the hell up due to rough handling. Some boxes looked like they had gotten into a fight with a hockey team then dropped from a 40 story building. Other boxes have huge gouge holes from being impaled by forklifts with resulting damage to my speakers in my previous setups being damaged.

    And let's not forget their wonderful delivery window of midday when everyone is at work. And last their excellent delivery tactics of dropping your package at your doorstep and half ass ringing the doorbell then bolting to the truck before you even get a chance to answer.

    So once again I ask. Why do companies still bother with U.P.S. aka Ultra Poor Service?

      I'd say that is lost as well.

      One of my school friend's husband works for UPS....he says they throw packages like rag dolls.

      I agree...I always am happier when I see FedEx or a trucking service...

        I worked for Fedex and UPS while I was in college. Both work you like dogs but UPS took it to another level. They were always purposely understaffed and management liked it that way to maximize profits for the shareholders. If you called in more than once a month you were given a warning which was placed in your file. If you called in or showed up late without a doctor's note more than twice a quarter you were fired in most cases.

        UPS is ugly to both it's customers and it's employees. The excuse back in the 90's and early 2000's was that Fedex was much more expensive than UPS. Which was true at the time. But with competition from upstart DHL and a few others 5 or so years ago Fedex did come down on many of it's shipping charges.

        Nowadays I just don't understand why businesses still put their potential customers through the headache of dealing with UPS instead of just paying a few more bucks for much better service through Fedex. Even UPS's bulk shipping discount to companies is not worth their unreliable service in my opinion.

        It's getting to the point that I refuse to purchase from any ID retailer that does not offer Fedex as a shipping option. Dealing with UPS is simply unbearable.

          I know this flies in the face of general opinion, but here in my neighborhood, I have always had better luck, fewer problems, and better service with UPS. My local UPS guy is like a friend. He provides TERRIFIC service and often goes above and beyond.

          Now, I haven't had many large heavy deliveries, like subwoofers, etc. But, the few I HAVE had, have arrived perfect.

          CHT has certainly had better luck with FedEx.

          Go figure????

            It does seem to be regional, not only from my experience but with many discussions about shipping in all forums. Here, UPS is ideal and FedEx sucks.
