  • An interesting blog video

I've talk to this guy a few times. He's incredibly smart, and his builds are nice. Extreme attention to detail. I learned a lot about "Screwless" MDF builds from him.
He does get a bit winded at times and can tend to lose you by over using his vocabulary. But I think he's dead on here.

We like numbers, so that we have a real world reference to what is going to perform best for our buck. Something that's not subjective so we know what is what.

But he brings up a real point. We sometimes lose sight of the subjective experience we are looking for. We're not looking for a number. We're looking for an experience. And some things you can't put into numbers. Like Buikwhitney's comments about how his 18.2s control the room with authority.

Numbers are important but not the be all end all.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

I'm sure being in Car Audio he must get a lot of ridiculous requests.

Thanks for that link. I would like to use that on a couple of other forums, but that would only result in me getting mobbed. :stirthepot:

      Very true. lol

      I like the microwave analogy.

From what I understand, he takes the client's vehicle and tries to measure the internal cabin size/shape and calculates an estimated cabin gain. He then designs the enclosure to match the cabin response and get it flat within whatever the bandwidth the client wants. Seems to be big on transmission lines.

      Pretty interesting.
