It should come as no surprise.

Also in that link is news that is a few days old. I was going to drop a thread in here and forgot, well here it is now. The running joke for years has been... what hasn't Sidney bought?

"Sidney Harman of Harman Media has purchased Newsweek from the Washington Post Co."

old news on the lcd price fixing. been investigations and lawsuits going on for awhile now. samsung, lg philips, sony, etc. etc. etc.

same with RAM price fixing, etc. etc. etc.

in huge industries with just a couple equally large players it pays to group together to benefit each other and collectively raise the prices. cartels are not a new concept by any stretch..

Ok, I should have been more clear. This is the real news, somebody is doing something about the price fixing.

"Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum said on Tuesday he is suing the world's biggest makers of liquid crystal display screens for engaging in a "conspiracy at the highest level" to fix prices. McCollum's announcement came days after New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo filed a similar lawsuit on Friday"

I hope it brings prices down where they should be. HDTV prices are ridiculous.

What a bunch of bull****! Why is the government getting this money in fines? This money should be given back to the people who purchased these items. This is similar to the Toyota fines IMO.

it will be like all the other price fixing scams. lots of noise but behind the scenes nothing will happen. There may be a couple fall guys if we are lucky and the price may drop for a little bit but then it will go back to where it was because "market forces have pressured us to raise the prices"

It's like why groups of companies will actually raise the price of a commodity despite the market being weaker.

i dont get it. my brother is off at some fancy pants business school and tried to explain it all to me. I called him a nerd. "thumbsup: :salute:
