I need a power cable for my Onkyo CD Recorder/Player.

the adapter to accept the cable is small one side rounded the opisit side square. I can't find one not even at Mono price.

DOJ, if I understand you correctly, the cord you are looking for is available in a number of places. You can't quite tell in the photo below, but I think the Radio Shack cord shown below has both a square and round side at the end which would go into the Onkyo. Even if the cord below isn't what you're looking for, if you have a radio shack near you, it might be worth the trip.

If Radio Shack can't help, try Sears or your local hardware store.

I think Jack's suggestions are very good ones, and if you don't have any luck with those, check your box fans around the house. I know I have at least 1 fan that has a removable cord with a similar type connector. It's probably a very standardized setup in the electronics industry. Or try contacting Onkyo usa. Sometimes the manufacturers will surprise you with being quite helpful in situations like that, & at the very least, you know you'll get the item that's right for your product ! Good luck !

Yes I believe that would work Jack . We do have a Radio Shack out by our Home Depot. I will look there.

I'd like to know why these companys don't use a universal end. Why are there so many types in the U.S ?

I was thinking of changing the adapter on the back side of the Onkyo to accept a power cord I already have.

Well, I'm not certain about this, but I think the cords that have that connector with one square side and one round side are polarized. Non-polarized cords have connectors which are round on both sides. Beyond that, I have no idea why there are so many different connectors.

If Radio Shack doesn't have what you need, check Home Depot.

If you don't like to leave the comfort of your house, amazon has those kind of cords too. Something like this:

Thanks Jed ! I ordered that one.

Home Depot did'nt have the power cord and neither did Radio Shack. The anager at radio shack did't have a clue what I needed. She was convinced I needed a cord for a portable player.......I ended up just walking out. :dizzy:
