I have learned that Craig and his family are going through a difficult time. Their beloved doberman, Texas is very ill. He has been taken to an out of state veternarian hospital where he will be undergoing surgery. There is a 50/50 chance he may not be coming home. Just wanted you all to know.

Another voice adding to the sentiments that all goes well. I have crazy thoughts about cloning my cats (an odd option now) but then I remember there are many fine cats down at the shelter, which is where I got mine. Still, it's an ugly day I don't care to face. Hope all goes well.

Hi all - Thanks for the upbeat thoughts about Texas, and also about your own feelings about your own pets. We animal people understand the pain about pets and their importance when we think of our own.
A lot of guys here have met Texas, and he is without a doubt the best animal I ever met anywhere.
The least "bad" scenario is a ruptured disc, which will require surgery and weeks to as much as 6 months of recovery.
The worst bad is a tumour on the spine, which is what the docs think after the MRI.
Either way, Tex will have surgery today.
