Hi guys - Several forum members attended the November 2009 GTG at our place. When this GTG was scheduled, we were supposed to have had a few days to play with what was supposed to be properly working Beta amplifiers.
The CS-10.2 was a properly working unit, right down to the needed eq curve.
This thread is to talk about the CS-18.1's you experenced.
Here is a breakdown as to what happened ...
1. I never saw the two CS-18.1's until an hour before the GTG.
2. The amps had the wrong eq curve in them for the drivers.
3. The amps were not internally sealed, and there was (as I found out Sunday after everyone was gone) a lot of air leaking through the amp's controls and inputs.
The unit I have been using for the last ten days is a completely different subwoofer than everyone saw and heard here.
It hits faster, tighter, deeper and delivers much more slam than what you heard.
We were all somewhat underwhelmed in the performance of the 18's at the time.
I would have posted all this much earlier, but I wanted to make sure our soon to be production units were meeting our design goals.
They are, and very nicely.
One other thing I have noticed - the 18 inch drivers do seem to benefit from some break in, just as Danny Richie thought they would.
I am looking forward to getting a bunch of the CS-18.1's and CS-18.2's into your hands ... and systems.
To those who were here - I wish you would have heard what we have now. It's not a small difference. :)
