  • Stinking Truck....Help !

I was changing the oil in my truck yesturday . The oil always seems dirty so I thought I'd do a thoughogh flush of the engine. I drained the oil and started running water through the engine with a garden hose through the oil fill . With the engine running at idle and water running through the engine I was watching to see it clear up. Then all of a sudden the engine started jumping and then shut down. I spent the rest of the day trying to restart it and it wouldn't start. Checked again this morning ...still won't start.

I checked on an auto forum and asked if it would be o.k Before I did this and they said this is the best way to clean the inside of an engine.

ant suggestions to get this back on the road ?

I'm stumped and yes I did put oil back in it.

Sounds like you may have gotten some bad gas!

I usually put a half bottle of dish washing liquid in first and then hook up the hose to the hot water tap. I use dove soap so it is lubricating also. I've been doing this for years and my '57 chevy still purrs like a kitty...

Did you make sure you filled the gas tank with pure nitromethane before you started the process? Don't think water flushes work unless you do that first. :fryingpan:

What color and type of garden hose did you use? The green hose can ground the motor for several days. I've heard only negative things about the black hose. Everyone is very positive about the results using the red garden hose. The hose diameter is also very important. Too thin of a diameter can lead to some congestion in the midrange, especially with a higher torque motor like you have. Some have used fire department hoses, but I really think that is a little overkill. If your problem doesn't clear up, I would use a different hose.

You might want to consider the source. When you ran water through the hose you weren't supposed to piss in it. It is better when hooked to a garden spigot and best when using a fire hydrant. I've also known of guys in southern California that have a water truck come by so they can go off the grid.

Remember, if you want a fast machine you need to keep your motor clean.

hmmm, sounds like you did everything the right way. I'm thinking this is your trucks way of getting back at you for plowing into the door.
