My favorite place in the world

My favorite place is this little bar called Fusion. It's on the beach in Playa del Carmen. From 4 to 7 they have one band and later they have another one. The one pictured here played mostly reggae and was very good. The atmosphere is so laid back... They serve great food ... They have this big white dog with a great big brown spot who begs for food but he does it in a kind of subtle and polite way... Little kids up on the dance floor, moving to Bob Marley... The sound of the waves and gulls in the background. And more than reasonable prices... Man I love that bar, I was taking root there...

There were some guys there who organize the PGA tour. They travel all over and I asked them what their favorite place is. All three of them smiled and said "right here". They've been going there for fifteen years.

Looks great Stephen. My favorite place is pretty similar. The Dune Preserve bar in Anguilla, owned and operated by Caribbean music legend Bankie Banx. The original bar was open air with various sections of roof pieced together from whatever Bankie found on the beach.

Bankie used to play there every full moon. I recall him jamming in an almost totally dark bar, moonlight on the ocean, and showers of embers flashing up from a huge bonfire on the beach. Amazing ambiance.

It seems I might have brought a little souvenir back from Mexico so I'm staying close to the sanitarios... Let me bore you with a few more pics. Leaving my favorite place on earth, we walk up the street and fall into a totally unexpected and very campy Mardi Gras parade. We smiled all the way through it. Very amateurish and very enthusiastic performers. Great fun... My camera setting was off though.
