    Hi guys,

I know I've seen a thread or two on this before (or at least some pics in some threads) about tv stands that can accomodate bigfoot, but a quickie search here didn't yield anything. I suppose I could go over to av123, but I've pretty much stopped all activity with that company and don't care to search over there.

Anyone know of a stand that can accomodate a 61" samsung dlp rptv (I think it's like 14" deep) and bigfoot? I guess another option is a wall mount above the tv....might look into that as well. Other equipment that needs to fit is a cox cable box, Onkyo 805, and a PS3.

    Thanks

Depends on how much you want to spend and how much compromise you want to make by sticking the TV inside a cabinet.

How about making a shelf for the TV and putting bigfoot underneath? My plasma TV juts out about 8" or so, so 14" shouldn't be that bad :)

      Hey Nahn,

Well I went ahead and searched 'over there.' Found a pic of this one:

Looks like it can be had for about $750. More than I wanted to spend, but is right about what we're looking for.

The real problem is there's not a good place to hang the surrounds in the room.

This is for a new house that we may be getting. (fingers crossed)

Get a plasma and move the DLP into the bedroom :D Yes, the solution is usually not cheap. Maybe you can visit a woodshop to see how much they can build you one for?

Not possible to even ceiling mount them?

No....this is the primary TV for a while. Only about 18 months old. Besides....I need that money for 2 channel upgrades:yes:

As far as the surrounds go they will have to go on the rear wall. I've yet to hear an in-ceiling surround I like. Problem is the primary seating will also be up against the rear wall. Definitely not ideal. Will most likely go with Danny's AV-1RS.

Should know more by the end of the week about the new pad.

Have you thought about making your own?

Or have you thought about mounting bigfoot above the TV - here is a post with some info - http://forums.av123.com/showthread.p...=bigfoot+mount

No, not thought about making our own. I can't possibly imagine how I could make something like what I'm looking for that would be something I want on display in the living room.

We did talk about mounting above, and that may be an option. I like how the speaker would be more visible to appreciate it's beauty.

I'm getting a little ahead of myself, cause the deal isn't quite sealed yet on the house. It's kind of an insider deal with a family member, so we haven't worked out the particulars. I know he needs to do something pretty quick though...2 mortgages, with utilities is just killing him.

We should know more by the end of the week....and then move on from there.

                  Thanks Chad

I think we have gotten pretty ridiculous about furniture. I have become a huge 2x4 fan. With 2x4s, baltic birch plywood, and trim you can easily make some really nice looking stuff for cheap.

If the 61" Samsung is their last generation of LED DLP TVs, it's a very nice TV!

Don't move it to the bedroom. Hope the stand search goes well! I have the 67" Samsung and have a CRT wall bracket I use for my Bigfoot.

I am guessing this is similar to my RP CRT but just not as deep or as heavy.

I took a 2 X 12 and made pretty much an upside down U but cutting 45's with my skilsaw. I rounded of the edges with a router and put some leveling legs on it and painted it a similar gray color as the TV cabinet. The TV sets inside it and the Bigfoot shelf is just at the level of the TV top. I aimed it downward with some mopads and it works great.

Nobody notices it's not part of the TV itself and this is in our main room...cough, cough, "the wifes room" so it had to pass the WAF.

About $40 and a few evenings.

I got this idea from a member of av123 and there was a picture over at av123 of both his and mine but they went with the rest of the gallery!

This may not be what you are looking for but it works and was relatively easy to build. As you can see from the side view it covers the rear hump on the TV.
