My sonicare toothbrush is on it's last leg. I have to recharge after every brush now (it's lasted quite a while, so I'm happy with the reliability). Am looking for recommendation on the latest/greatest (under $150), since I've not looked beyond Sonicare. Plus they have so many models out there it's a zoo :D I hear good things about the Oral-care brushes, but all they do is spin the heads and no cool vibration like the Sonicares. Just wondering how effective this is.

Strange topic, but I like it!:clapper:

I have tried Sonic care and Oral-b, but the one I have been using for the last year or two, the Oral-B Triumph, is by far the best toothbrush I have ever used, but its also the most expensive. I also use it with the dual head replacement brushes. If you don't mind spending some money, the thing is as close to getting to the dentist on a daily basis as you can.

There are some procedures on the web that show how you can replace the battery. Try searching under sonicare + battery.

Try the Black Lightning Battery Pack from RWA. Your tooth brush will sound more dynamic with tighter bass and a totally black background.
As it turns out, I was never banned. I was wrong yet again. First Obama, now this. :)

Thanks, Jed. I noticed there are a few Triumph models. Would this be the one you are referring to: Triumph 9400 ($165 from Amazon)

Thanks, Chu. I should have looked that up like last year, but I think it's time for a fresh start :) I'll look up batter replacement procedures for my Braun shaver :)

What about 3-dimensional soundstaging and sweetspot widening?

No that jackhammer looking hog wasn't out when I was buying a couple years back. That looks pretty impressive. Mine is the original lowly 9000 model but it was obviously replaced by the 9100 and 9400. I paid around $130 for it, but it didn't come with any accessories except a simple docking charger.

Besides the obvious power, the one thing I have really liked about this triumph over my previous models is it has an incredible battery length. I can go on a 2 week vacation and not bring the charger (but I do anyway just in case, but a week is no problem at all). Now, that is probably more of a sign of technology, but it is really nice. My old oral-b would get a few days at best. Also, if you go oral-b, the double bristle heads are a MUST for whatever brush you get.

Overall the triumph is an incredible experience, but in this economy I am sure not many people are buying $100+ toothbrushes anymore so do what you must. I am very positive you could get much better bang for your buck, but that is not what you asked for. :salute:

Cool. When the Sonicare that I have now first came out, the price was more steep than even the Oral-b 9400. I'm used to not brushing with the traditional toothbrush and feel these electrics do a much better job. My arms cannot move as fast as jephood's (obviously), so I need help in that arena :D I value my teeth more than a few bucks difference, so it's not a big deal to me. I'll find other ways to compensate for the $ having been spent on a great toothbrush.

Thats the one I have and thinks its great, so does me dentist, he thinks Ive been flossing regularly since I bought it. I bought mine at costco.

It comes with two which made sense for me when I bought it. Seems like its still a good deal. After ~4 years the battery on mine is starting to decrease its time charged. Buy the two pack and you should be set for years.

                        Chris

Thanks, Chris. Definitely a better deal at Costco!

Yeah, I switched from Sonicare to Oral B and I'm happier for it. The Oral-B was done at the suggestion of my dentist and it gets into nooks/crannies better.
