Wow, this is too cool. What a nice way to bring in the New Year.

The Challenge last month on the macro/closeup section of The Nikonians was "Abstracts." This shot won. And to think that I almost did not enter it. I thought that I might have pushed the envelope too far.

Yes, it is a Palmetto. Best I recall it took about 20+ minutes of post processing.
