  • Suggestions For Arthur's First Musical Test Of The Remodeled Room

Since we all live in awe of Arthur's audio rig and listening room (and to take his mind off his health issues), I thought we should be "officious intervenors" and presume to suggest what music he should first play on the new set up when it is completed. :biglaugh:

My nomination is Al Dimeola's "Elegant Gypsy." :jiggy:

It has fabulous guitar work, some great dynamics, and is complex enough to be hard for lesser systems to handle (and, thus, a tribute to his set up).

    Reference Recordings "Pomp and Pipes".

A friend has a setup where when playing the Schwanda piece, the room lights dimmed significantly out during the finale. That was awesome!

IMHO, either of these will be real enjoyable

Avishai Cohen - Colours (bass player)
          or
Avishai Cohen - Flood - part two of the big rain trilogy (trumpet player)

[Back story - When I first heard songs broadcast on my local NPR Jazz station, I was confused as to how the same person could be so proficient on two separate instruments. It took a while to get the station to send their play list so I could discover it was actually two different artist with the same name.]

Arthur, enjoy what ever music pleases you and get well soon,
          Lou

              Two suggestions.

First, you can't go wrong with "Muskrat Love" by The Captain and Tennille.

Once you recover from that, Chesky Records makes some "Ultimate Demonstration" discs for critical listening that are extremely well done.

The second choice might be the better of the two. :whoopie:

How about 'Man, I Feel Like a Woman!'? :)

Art will most likely be playing some Tito Puente.

Actually, Kurt is probably spot on RyG "Stairway to Heaven" may be in order....

After my second visit to the hospital this week, I'm on the mend it seems, everything is done in the room save some lights being installed Monday, so as soon as I'm up to it I can start hangin the RPG products and migrating back into the space next week, target for live sound is next Saturday, pics early week so I can show progress to date and before and after on the acoustic materials...

                          SA,

Glad to hear you're getting better.

Sorry for not being there to give you a hand. :)

I found something here that I'll have to get my room redone with all wood products.

It will look almost like Shanling's audition room.
