  • The Wine Thread

I am not sure whether or not anyone had started a wine thread but I just got a case of th2 2004 Chateau Labegorce Margaux so I may as well start one. :)

    Château Labégorce
Handsome elegant and floral nose, with strong notes of violet, inimitable texture of a real Margaux, a silky texture without any sucrosity, subtle tannins. It seems a little more natural compared to its neighbour Zédé.

    Hugh,

If you're ever in the Whittier area, we have a really nice family owned wine shop. It's received many awards. I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. I sure do:goodvibes: They host a music night where patrons bring music and play a few of their favorite tracks. Might have to convince them that they need a set of Onix Monitor 1s.

      Resurrecting this thread...

I started on a vacuum sealed bottle of Concannon Petit Syrah and switched to some Basel Cellars Earth Series (2007) later tonight.

      Mike

      Earth Series
      $18 bottle (wine club = $16.20 + S/H)

To celebrate planet Earth, we have created Volume One which contains Merlot, Carmenere, Malbec, and Petit Verdot.
Volume One begins with penetrating aromas of ripe, robust fruit.
Once tasted, it revives one's taste buds with a silky smooth mouthfeel and a complexity that will suit most everyone's palate.

Glad I did a search before opening a new thread.
          Strong work in starting it.
I'd love to get some new ideas.
I went wine tasting in Walla Walla, WA a few month ago and joined a wine club and bought a bunch.
A friend of mine from Europe has a brother (in Europe) that imports Italian wine into the EU, so I get a little a little bit of exposure to other wines...

            Mike,

What type(s) of Super Tuscan have you been experienced with?

most of my experience is with BC wines. I have for the most part decided to stick close to home and support local vineyards/Canadian vineyards.

But I would like to start opening my experiences up more and expanding further afield.

              :lurk:

JUST finished off the five gallon box of Mogen David ($3.99). Good vintage; Thursday, aged in the truck....

                      :peekaboo:

On a more serious note, we are 30 minutes to 2 hours from all of the New York Finger Lakes wineries. A treasure trove of good and affordable wine. Not going to cite any specifically, but every 5-6 weeks we take a day to go and have lunch at one of the wineries & gather a new/different supply.

Most of the year, there are limo tours where you gather some friends, pick your wineries and pay someone else to drive you to and from home for the day. In December, the experience is greatly embellished by the wineries. We also plan some meals into the itinerary.

Had a Rombauer Cabernet last week that was terrific.

I am only aware of the Finger Lakes ice wines.
                        Great stuff.
I don't know the specific vintages.

                          I'm not sure.
I'm not good at remembering the Italian (or other European) wines.
I'd ask my friend that supplies me, but I think he is depressed today as his team just lost in the world cup.

If any of you Canucks can get me honest to god Maple Wine I will pay you well for it. Had some years ago when we went to Nova Scotia and it was incredible. Like alcoholic maple syrup :) It's impossible to find in the US.
