  • Forum etiquette and a Complaint

So I am doing some research on what some stuff is going for in the classifieds and what do I find.

PEOPLE DELETING THE SELLING PRICE OF THEIR GEAR!!!!!!!!
PEOPLE DELETING THE WHOLE ADD TOO!!!!!!!!

come on people leave it there so others can see what things are going for.

when you sell something, just put sold next to the price but dont delete

    ok rant off for today

This has also tended to frustrate me.

I was wondering if anybody who does this could explain why you do it? I have always been curious.

Because the price is a secret!!! :dizzy:

I'm on several forums where there are rules strictly forbidding the deletion of the price after the sale is completed.

I don't know why people do it, but I also don't see why they have any obligation not to. The conditions of use do not say if you sell gear you are also agreeing to provide market research data to others free of charge.

yes there is no rule saying you cant delete it but, why do it in the first place?

I would think its common courtesy to leave it up so others can see, like seth said some forums actually forbid deleting the price.

Yeah, I tend to think it's easier for both buyers and sellers if you can see the prices afterwards, but it's true that some forums have rules forbiding it. I"m not 100% sure why though.

I did it because I dislike when I have to read through a whole ad to find out it has been sold. Wasn't personal. Wasn't a forum rule, so I didn't think twice about doing it. Seeing this on this forum and others has never upset me. But I won't do it again, because you guys have made a good point. :applause:

Yeah I see that a lot too....

Maybe its done because people who price for a quick sell don't want to bring others' prices down?

Idk...never do it, myself. Its annoying.

just a nice sold next to the price in red text always seems to catch my eye.

I wasnt calling anyone out in particular, actually see it happen on several forums, just thought I would post my thoughts here:poke:

I know you weren't calling anyone out. I'm glad you brought this up, so I could correct it.

Yeah, same here, I am not begrudging anyone, just curious why someone would do it.

I do agree however, that it is nice if the OP indicates that the item has been sold.
