The geen thing is definitely male. He is referred to as the "jovial MAOAM man" by the company. I am less certain about the sex of the other characters, but popular slang would suggest a strong connection between a chery and the loss of female virginity. There is certainly the connection between "fruit" and gay in English but these characters come from Germany and I am not sure fruit has a homosexual connotation in German.
