    Possible relocation - Sacramento, CA
Well with my Wife losing her job recently she has brought up the possiblity of moving back to Sac. She is originally from there and still has family back there and really doesn't like the cold winters here. Though with the way the economy is who knows if this is even possible.

    1) One of us would need to land a job out there.
    2) Sell our current house

One thing to note as well is Sac has one of the higher unemployment rates.

We our just using all of our Networking options to see if anyone knows of anything available etc.

If anyone knows of any good job openings let us know.

My background is IT and I am currently a Network Technician. My wife has a Customer Service Management background in the trucking industry.

Yeah I know. I don't think finding a job for her will be easy anywhere right now.

California would be second on my list of places not to relocate to only after Michigan (where I am :( ).

Very sorry to learn about this, Chad. I know some friends in similar situations. I'm fortunate to have a job right now (well, at least for another 3 months). I'll keep an eye out for you.

High housing prices (although much better now), high unemployment, high taxes, and a state budget crisis. Probably not the best combination.

Yeah we are aware of those issues as well.

Yeah it is tough times for sure. It may not happen but we are keeping all of our options open for now. I have been at my job for 3 years this Nov. It is a nice place to work and right now I feel safe there. So that makes it tough if a relocation happens.

If you haven't already checked, I'd suggest searching Craigslist and LinkedIn.

I suspect that the economy of is going to be sluggish for quite some time. We have lots of consumer and government debt to unwind. I am not usually the stable and steady type, but right now seems like a good time to stay at a job that is secure. :twocents:

                          Right now.....

any job that seems like you have stability with, is not worth walking away from unless you have no choice.....

You just never know what the real situation is where your going.

The other place we have been thinking of is Oregon. We are aware they have a high unemployment rate as well.

Good friend of mine moved from Long Beach to the suburbs of Portland and they just love it up there. It took a long time for both of them to find jobs and they are just now buying their first house, something they knew they would never be able to do in SoCal. I really like the city of Portland, very clean and great downtown area.
