A sad day in history for our wonderful nation. This day reminds me of how truly appreciative I am/should be for this country we live in.

Thanks Mac for posting this, 9/11 was and is a day I will never forget it. I would like to thank those in our country that serve tirelessly to keep us safe, protect our borders, fight for our freedoms abroad and especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in their service that will not be coming home to their families. I thank you all.

Said a prayer for those lost and for those families still affected by 9/11, and for those who are still fighting to protect us overseas and here.

I remember seeing videos of the people jumping out of the building but that wasn't shown on the evening news. Something about making people angry. I'm still pissed.

At what..not being able to see someone commit suicide or that the networks pulled the video footage..?

No, I'm still pissed off at 9/11. Personally, I don't think the footage ought to have been pulled. On the day it happened, my son was at Fort Knox for a scheduled meeting having to do with Army advertising (he was involved at that time in the Army of One campaign and with respect to that I've got a story about Tom Petty). He had flown in the night before along with some associates and as they arrived, the whole 9/11 thing was going down. He never met with the people and was advised to leave the facility as quickly as possible before it was locked down. Needless to say, they weren't going to take any flights out so they wound up driving all the way back to Chicago.

It was a travesty it happened in the first place..I don't think showing the footage nation wide of people leaping to their death was appropriate...no matter what. They did show it for the first hour or 2 right after the attacks..I know..I saw it when it first aired as did many others..and it is available in places on the web for downloading if you have to see it..

Our nation changed that day..as those the Twin Towers came crashing down... Our Camelot disappeared into a cloud of billowing debris of steel and concrete..

On another forum to which I belong, people are (re-)telling their stories of that day.

I had tears in my eyes, reading others' stories, and writing mine (I was in Hong Kong when the attack happened).

It still makes me angry, too.....and sad....and glad, that I live in this country.
What if the Hokey-Pokey really IS what it's all about?!

                      Kinky Tom!

We still lived in NJ when 9-11 occurred... lived in Jersey City directly across the river from the towers. We saw them every day.

Almost one month prior to 9-11, I was turned down for a job which would have had me working fairly high up in Tower 1. That thought never leaves me.
