  • Hah! So, I am a tweaker.

Just came across this definition of "tweaking" from a textbook. "Occurs when the user has gone for days without sleep, is irritable, is highly paranoid, and is prone to obsessive and erratic behavior (e.g., takes electronic items apart with no knowledge of how to put them back together)."

I can't say I've used meth or other amphetamines, but bit about taking electronics apart without having a clue as to how to put them back together is certainly the case. The electronics sitting around half-opened and non-fuctional in my basement are a testament to that.
    So say we all.

(raises hand) Guilty of the taking apart electronic items part. :) I just took apart one of my old Macs to upgrade the hard drive, then upgrade the OS. A few months ago, I also took apart the dash of my brand-new car to install a DVD bypass. Luckily, both projects ended successfully.

My kid wants an electric guitar for his fourth birthday and I spent hours online looking at circuit diagrams, thinking about scratch building him a vintage champ or tweed deluxe tube amp. I am pretty certain that means I could use an intervention! Also, I am pretty sure if you are not an EE by career or training but you can look at various Fender circuit diagrams and actually understand how they work you MIGHT have a problem. ;) Heck, if you even know what a pentode tube is and how it works you could probably use a little therapy!

I was just amazed that they had an example that specific. Makes me wonder if some electronics tweaker's wife was putting in a joke. Hmm. May be I ought to speak w/ my wife.

Good point. Though, at this point Tweekend is only the middle of the pack in terms of my fav albums of their's. Their 1st and most recent albums are better.

                  Ed,

                  So, what's your point?!?! :scratchchin:

There are many like minded folks hanging around here :crowd:

Now, get back to those books so you can prepare yourself to pass the state board exam. Stop all this fooling around with trying to figure out audio enthusiast. Face it we are a lost cause and don't mind it at all. :woo:

Audio enthusiasts aren't all that complicated to figure out. Only 2 criteria are necessary for the diagnosis of Audiophoolia. A love of music and a complete and utter inability to be satisfied with what we have (aka upgraditis). Pretty much a lost cause in most cases since there are no good treatments available. Should probably write us all off, stick us in a state mental hospital, and throw away the key.
